Shine Jesus Shine

My Jesus and Me

Let Your Light Shine

Everyone knew my grandpa was a Christian, he was a patriarch of our family.  He was not afraid to talk to anyone.  He loved God, his wife, family and friends in that order until he went to sleep forever at 99.  He always shared about God in life but not in a forceful way it just came natural.  I truly believe grandpa kept his focus on God allowing His light to shine through grandpa.

How many of you remember the catchy tune we all learned in Sunday school “Let it Shine” was also sung by VeggeTales characters it is about letting your light shine and not hiding it under a bush.  Recently, I hear that Jesus’ light should shine through us, same story different wording.  On a Proverbs 31 website I read, “The only way to be like Jesus is to be WITH Jesus”.

So I think the sayings mean when you spend time with the Father, He shines through you. That means we pray, read His Word and share the good news.  If all Christians used this formula with our actions and deeds the world will see Jesus, not us.

Characteristics and Attributes

Jesus loved to spend time with God and in prayer.  We should also, acting conscientiously each day demonstrating the light and love of Jesus in our daily walk.  Think like He did, act and react as He did.  God has given us a blue print (the Bible and Jesus) to use so we won’t fail.

Attributes of Jesus:  Loving, caring, forgiving, welcoming, calming, trusting, show blessings instead of cursing.  His power was for healing and He valued the strength of His Father.

We can do it too, it is not impossible!

My prayer

Holy Spirit help my character be like Jesus and be a beacon of light in the world.
