Deceive – Word of the Day

Deceive – Word of the Day

To cause someone to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage, to lead astray or frustrate usually by underhandedness.

“I didn’t intend to deceive people into believing the lies.”

Synonyms:  swindle, defraud, cheat, trick, hoodwink, hoax, dupe, mislead, delude, fool, outwit, lead on, double-cross

In the Bible Satan uses a “good and beautiful” fruit tree to trick Eve into eating it.  Politician’s and the media mislead us into believing their ideals will be good for us.  You hear of Christian leaders who will tell of a seemingly good a word or event only to find out they are deluding us.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[a] she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3:6 ESV)

I urge you to use good discernment with what you hear and who you believe.  Use and know the Bible as your guide and resource, not man or our feelings.

Follow the link to a short video from John Bevere.  He talks of being deceived, I found it helpful.  Ask God or go to the Word of God’s for confirmation if you have doubts.
