A Sense of Belonging

A Sense of Belonging

Do you remember a time when you wanted to “find yourself?”  My most used line is “what do you want to be when you grow up”?  I’ll ask anyone at any age when they are making a career or lifestyle change.  Because it doesn’t matter what our age; we are always looking for that elusive sense of belonging.

We all want to belong, fit in and feel loved.  Your local church is the key place to build your role to fulfill in life. Your abilities and talents are needed and accepted.

You are the perfect candidate:  uniquely you, able to grow, to give and receive love as God designed.  What will you lose by giving it a try?

Belonging is a God-given need

Church’s socialize to build authentic community by worshiping, socializing, studying and serving together.  It creates a sense of belonging and a completeness everyone needs and wants.

Starbucks has capitalized and created a community for people to meet and connect with others.  The Company is doing well because when people sit they drink lots of coffee building community and making connections.

In Romans 12:3-8  talks of us all being a part of a large whole and when we are together we are complete.  We were made for one another.

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us] Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong tofruits-of-the-spirit-love each other.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Thank you Father for building a community to make us strong, healthy and welcome.
