Absolute Truth vs. Relative Truth

Absolute is viewed or existing independently, not in relation to other things, not relative or comparative.

synonyms:  complete, total, utter, outright, entire

“She trusts God absolutely.”

Absolute Truth is a quality of truth that cannot be beaten and is a necessary foundation for moral decisions.

Relativity is the absence of standards of absolute and universal application as “moral relativity”

  1. the quality or state of being relative or something that is relative

  2. the state of being dependent for existence on or determined in nature, value, or quality in relation to something else

Relative Truth is where a degree of truth is implied however the truth is different for everyone based on how they feel and their beliefs.  Relative truth says there is no room for fixed or moral absolutes.

Such as “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion” which has morphed into “everyone is entitled to their own truth.”  Relative truth is a contradiction in terms and can mean that truth depends on the circumstances instead of facts.

Absolute Truth vs. Relative Truth
While absolute truth is a logical necessity, there are some (atheists, humanists etc…) who will argue against the reality of absolute truth.  Relative truth has been growing at a fast pace making it harder and harder to see real facts from feelings or how it is perceived.  Probably why we have such a growing moral decay in America.

Over the years we’ve left out God and creation from truth, eventually leaving nothing in our world to provide absolute truth.  Creation answers many of the questions that evolution leaves blank, including questions of personality, design and purpose.

Eventually without absolute truth no one will be able to tell another person that something is wrong or illegal, lawmakers and judges alike.  If we continue there will be no end to the progression of relative or implied truth and no possibility of moral law and no law that can be upheld.

Bottom line is the actual facts are the truth and your feelings or opinions should never change the facts.  Truth stands alone.
