You Are Welcome

I grew up believing the Holy Spirit was a part of the trinity of God:  Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  Not quite understanding how or who the Spirit was.  Many fear the Holy Spirit but find with maturing and being in God’s word reveals how important and comforting He is to us personally.

In reality at the time of our salvation, the Spirit lives within us during our time on Earth and teaches us to truly know and follow God.  We miss out on experiencing all that God has promised by not recognizing who the Holy Spirit is or how powerful He is.

An important difference between the “dwelling within” and the “filling of” the Holy Spirit.  All believers in Jesus have God’s Spirit living within them but not all believers lives are filled by the Spirit’s power.  Some describe the difference by saying all believers have the Holy Spirit but the Holy Spirit may not have all of them.

We invite the Holy Spirit into our midst, to be filled with the Spirit by singing, praying and giving thanks to the Lord.  It can often be considered an emotional moment or our mountain top experience which increase your joy, thankfulness and understanding.  Here is one of many songs about the Holy Spirit “Holy Spirit” by Francesca Battiselli, with beautiful lyrics, You are welcome here, flood this place.

The Holy Spirit plays an important role in our lives.

  • He provides conviction of sin.
  • He serves as a helper, comforter or encourager in times of need.
  • He bestows special gifts on believers to work together meeting needs – enabling us to produce the fruit of the spirit that reflect God’s desires.
  • God’s Spirit protects us and guarantees our eternity with the Lord.

As we study in God’s Word, we can better encounter the Holy Spirit and be empowered to live out God’s teachings.

Lord Jesus, I pray that all will seek and gain power from your precious Spirit.
