Eunice and Lois – Women of the Bible
Did you know? Eunice, Lois and Timothy are referred to as the strongest spiritual trio other than the trinity mentioned in the Bible and their story is likened to Hannah’s story. While there is no record of how the women came to know the Lord it is indisputable in how Timothy lived that they were authentic believers. Eunice and Lois raised Timothy alone near Lystra in the Provence of Galatia.
Eunice his mother was a Jewess and his grandmother Lois both trained up Timothy with a strong belief and knowledge of God, 2 Timothy 1:5. They prepared Timothy for working in the ministry and was given to Paul close to age 15, much like Samuel who was turned over to the church. Eunice and Lois were thought of very highly with both Paul and the church. It is thought that Eunice who married a Greek man was a widow early and had to earn a living, no mention of what she did. Lois is the only woman mentioned in the Bible labeled as grandmother.
