Pharisee, Prophet or Jesus
In preparing for Easter our Bible reading in Matthew is about the parable of the landowner who left his fields in care of hired farmers. When the owner sent his servants, slaves and eventually his son over to harvest and collect the profits the farmers killed them all in hopes of keeping everything for themselves. The Pharisees and Priests new Jesus was talking about them in the story.
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they knew He was speaking about them. 46 Although they were looking for a way to arrest Him, they feared the crowds, because they regarded Him as a prophet. (Matthew 21:45-46, HCSB)
Everything the Pharisee’s and Priest’s did was for themselves and to keep their cushy important life. They made the decision not to stray from their plan and sacrificed themselves and the Jewish community because of it.
Will you stand strong to what you believe in? Is it for “the good of mankind” or just “good for you”?
What if we flipped that scenario? We decided to change the course of our actions to fit our beliefs? What if we stayed on course with God’s plans and what is best for our happiness and our community.
We live in a very negative, “all about me” time where “we” are more important than anyone, including our loved ones or who we have to step on to achieve our goals. I have to ask myself when was the last time I did something for someone not looking for a reward and making it a normal way of life? Jesus taught us to serve others, offering us a much greater reward; dignity, love, honor and happiness all positive attributes that will build you and others up.
Dear Father, Allow me to be a positive influence to the world, spreading your good message of love and mercy. I choose you Lord.
