Spiritual Community

How is your churches spiritual barometer reading?  Are you building community? Do you worship together, pray and “break bread” together?  Biblical hospitality and compassion is not only shared with friends but also with strangers and it can be distributed within your community or abroad.  What better place to start than the church?

The believer’s Form a Community

42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.

46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.  Acts 2:42-47 (NASB)

Lately, I see many churches with watered down messages, giving much excitement but no meat to help you grow.  My hope is all Churches will become more Holy Spirit-led, worshiping God and serving together with true opportunities to share the good news of Christ.  A biblical church should also feel like family as I am so blessed in having.  We are not perfect people, but loving and hungry for God’s Word, striving to be like the church in Act’s.

World values are also creeping into many churches what with political correctness or not getting to deep into the Word so as not “freak out” anyone.  It is effecting music, prayers and sermons.  Some messages’ I have heard are no more than reading a verse from the Bible and story telling.  It is past time get back to the basics of what God’s word says and not to be afraid to look, sound and act like christians.

We must be able to mature and grow, through sermons, small groups and other activities.  True christians are constantly growing in the knowledge of Him.

Father God, we raise up your church to unite together and grow in your Word, spreading the good news of Jesus.
