In my reading today I came across an old popular passage with new understanding.  Many women cringe when they hear “women submit to your husbands”.  God illustrates in Ephesians 5:21-33 passage that we are to bond together with love, submission and respect so that nothing can tear us apart.  How many of you read the first few verses and don’t go on to the rest of the story?

I believe He is saying we are to have relationships like Christ and the church:  strong, loving, respectful and woven together as parts of a whole.

• Wives – submit, respect and love him as an equal team
• Husbands – love your wife, treat her reverently, respect her and cherish her as an equal
• Church – love all, care for all, respect and be part of a team together as Christ does

If we use God’s mysterious illustration in all of our life we can create bonds that will not be broken easily.  Simple yet profound!

My prayer:  Forgive me Lord for my weak faith and strength that is not able to weld strong relationships together in everything I do.  Change me and let me build strong everlasting relationships.
